Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. Stir in the diced apples, milk, and egg until just combined; do not overmix.
  3. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy skillet to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Drop tablespoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, frying in batches for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
  5. Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar.

Notes
