  • Author: Chef Lalybeth
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 12 fritters 1x

Description

These baked apple fritters are a healthier twist on the classic fried version, featuring tender apples coated in a sweet batter and topped with a creamy vanilla glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Add the diced apples to the dry ingredients and toss to coat.
  4. In another bowl, beat the eggs, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. While the fritters cool, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for the glaze.
  9. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled fritters and let it set before serving.

Notes

For a crispier texture, bake a few minutes longer. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
