Description
A stunning and delicious appetizer featuring a round loaf of bread hollowed out and filled with melted brie, sweet cranberry sauce, and aromatic fresh thyme.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Crust:
- 1 (1 lb) round sourdough bread loaf
- 1 (8 oz) wheel of brie cheese
- 1/2 cup whole-berry cranberry sauce
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 clove garlic, minced
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the top off the sourdough loaf and carefully hollow out the center, leaving a 1-inch thick shell. Reserve the removed bread for dipping.
- Place the brie wheel into the hollowed-out bread bowl. Spread the cranberry sauce over the brie and sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and minced garlic. Brush this mixture over the inside of the bread lid and the top edges of the bread bowl.
- Place the lid on top and wrap the entire bread bowl tightly in aluminum foil. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and gooey.
- Unwrap carefully, remove the lid, and serve immediately with the reserved bread pieces, crackers, or apple slices for dipping.
