Baked Brie Bread Bowl with Cranberry and Thyme Infusion

  • Author: Chef Lalybeth

Description

A stunning and delicious appetizer featuring a round loaf of bread hollowed out and filled with melted brie, sweet cranberry sauce, and aromatic fresh thyme.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 (1 lb) round sourdough bread loaf
  • 1 (8 oz) wheel of brie cheese
  • 1/2 cup whole-berry cranberry sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the top off the sourdough loaf and carefully hollow out the center, leaving a 1-inch thick shell. Reserve the removed bread for dipping.
  2. Place the brie wheel into the hollowed-out bread bowl. Spread the cranberry sauce over the brie and sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and minced garlic. Brush this mixture over the inside of the bread lid and the top edges of the bread bowl.
  4. Place the lid on top and wrap the entire bread bowl tightly in aluminum foil. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and gooey.
  5. Unwrap carefully, remove the lid, and serve immediately with the reserved bread pieces, crackers, or apple slices for dipping.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
