Description

Decadent chocolate cupcakes topped with cherry compote and whipped cream, inspired by the classic Black Forest cake.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • Dark chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract; mix until smooth.
  4. Fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full with batter.
  5. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  6. Once cooled, top each cupcake with cherry pie filling.
  7. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form, then pipe onto cupcakes.
  8. Garnish with dark chocolate shavings and serve.

Notes

Ensure cherries are pitted and use high-quality cocoa for best flavor. Store in refrigerator for up to 2 days.
