  • Author: Chef Lalybeth
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Description

A spicy Cajun twist on the classic sloppy joe, featuring ground chicken seasoned with Cajun spices, served on buns.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, pickles

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground chicken until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  2. Add the chopped onion, diced bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet; cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, tomato sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  5. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  6. Spoon the mixture onto hamburger buns and add optional toppings if desired.

Notes

For a milder version, reduce the amount of Cajun seasoning. Serve with fries or a side salad for a complete meal.
