Description

A decadent chocolate cake infused with cherry gelatin, topped with whipped topping and chocolate chips for a moist and flavorful dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 box cherry flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 tub whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF and prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Mix cake mix, water, oil, and eggs according to package instructions and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  3. While cake is baking, dissolve gelatin in boiling water, then add cold water.
  4. Poke holes in the baked cake with the end of a wooden spoon.
  5. Pour gelatin mixture over the cake and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  6. Spread whipped topping over the chilled cake and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  7. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

For best results, use fresh cherries if available, and store leftovers in the refrigerator.
