A decadent chocolate cake infused with cherry gelatin, topped with whipped topping and chocolate chips for a moist and flavorful dessert.

- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 box cherry flavored gelatin
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 tub whipped topping, thawed
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF and prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Mix cake mix, water, oil, and eggs according to package instructions and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- While cake is baking, dissolve gelatin in boiling water, then add cold water.
- Poke holes in the baked cake with the end of a wooden spoon.
- Pour gelatin mixture over the cake and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Spread whipped topping over the chilled cake and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Notes
For best results, use fresh cherries if available, and store leftovers in the refrigerator.
