Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For filling: 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Grease and line a 15×10-inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until thick and pale. Add water and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 12-15 minutes.
  6. While warm, invert cake onto a towel dusted with powdered sugar and roll up. Let cool.
  7. For filling, beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  8. Unroll cake, spread filling, and reroll. Chill before serving.

Notes

Ensure the cake is rolled while warm to prevent cracking. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
