Description

A simple and moist chocolate cake recipe perfect for two servings.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease a small 6-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and egg to the dry ingredients; mix until well combined.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth (it will be thin).
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add chocolate chips to the batter. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
