- 6 cups of cubed day-old bread
- 1 cup raisins
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, raisins, and cinnamon; toss to mix.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well blended.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread mixture and stir gently to coat.
- Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the liquid.
- Pour into the prepared baking dish and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until set and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use challah or brioche bread. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
