A classic holiday treat featuring buttery toffee topped with chocolate and nuts.

- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped almonds or pecans
Instructions
- Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a heavy saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and salt.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches 285°F (hard crack stage on a candy thermometer).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let sit for 1-2 minutes to melt.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts over the chocolate and press lightly.
- Let cool completely, then break into pieces.
