Description

A classic holiday treat featuring buttery toffee topped with chocolate and nuts.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped almonds or pecans

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches 285°F (hard crack stage on a candy thermometer).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let sit for 1-2 minutes to melt.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee.
  8. Sprinkle chopped nuts over the chocolate and press lightly.
  9. Let cool completely, then break into pieces.
