A classic Italian dish featuring steak simmered in a flavorful tomato sauce with herbs and vegetables.

- 2 beef steaks (about 1-inch thick)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Season the steaks with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the steaks and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add onion and garlic; sautΓ© until softened.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil; bring to a simmer.
- Return the steaks to the skillet and spoon sauce over them.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes until steaks are tender.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
