Description
A classic Italian dish featuring steak simmered in a flavorful tomato sauce with garlic and herbs.

- 2 ribeye steaks (about 1-inch thick)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Season the steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steaks and sear for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add garlic, onion, and bell pepper. SautΓ© for 3-4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.
- Return the steaks to the skillet, spooning sauce over them. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes until steaks are cooked to desired doneness.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
For a spicier version, increase the red pepper flakes. Pair with crusty bread or pasta.
