Description

Soft and chewy sugar cookies made with cream cheese for extra richness and flavor.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Beat in the sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix well.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared sheets.
  9. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  11. Cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week. For a festive touch, add colored sprinkles before baking.
