Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar for caramel topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and add the melted butter, heavy cream, milk, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool. Sprinkle brown sugar on top and caramelize with a torch or broiler.

Notes

For best results, chill the cake before serving to enhance the custard texture. Use a kitchen torch for even caramelization.
