- 8 pieces mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup finely grated cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Cut the mozzarella sticks in half if desired, and freeze them for 30 minutes to firm up.
- In a shallow bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, grated cheddar cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge each mozzarella stick in flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat for a double coat if extra crispy.
- Place the coated sticks back in the freezer for another 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the sticks in batches for 1-2 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with marinara sauce.
Notes
For a healthier option, bake at 400°F for 10 minutes instead of frying. Ensure cheese is fully frozen to prevent leaking.
