Description

These mozzarella sticks are coated in a crispy cheddar breadcrumb mixture, making them the perfect gooey and crunchy snack for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 8 pieces mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup finely grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut the mozzarella sticks in half if desired, and freeze them for 30 minutes to firm up.
  2. In a shallow bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, grated cheddar cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dredge each mozzarella stick in flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat for a double coat if extra crispy.
  4. Place the coated sticks back in the freezer for another 15 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the sticks in batches for 1-2 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with marinara sauce.

Notes

For a healthier option, bake at 400°F for 10 minutes instead of frying. Ensure cheese is fully frozen to prevent leaking.
