Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  4. Dip each calamari ring in the egg mixture, then coat in the flour mixture.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Fry the calamari in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
