Description

A hearty, meaty baked ziti made in a crock pot, perfect for crowds with layers of cheese and sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups ziti pasta, uncooked
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat; drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and garlic to the beef; cook until softened.
  3. In a crock pot, layer half of the uncooked ziti pasta at the bottom.
  4. Spread half of the marinara sauce over the pasta.
  5. Add the cooked beef mixture on top.
  6. Dot with ricotta cheese and sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan.
  7. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
  8. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until pasta is tender.
  9. Stir gently before serving to mix cheeses.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with plant-based crumbles. Ensure the crock pot is at least half full for even cooking.
