A rich and creamy potato casserole layered with cheese and baked to perfection.
Ingredients

- 4 large potatoes, sliced thinly
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup butter
- Optional: 1/2 cup breadcrumbs for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sautΓ© until fragrant.
- Stir in the heavy cream, milk, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over them and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
- Add the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and top with the rest of the cheese. If using, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
This dish pairs well with roasted meats. For a crispier top, broil for the last 2 minutes.
