These chocolate snowball cookies are simple to make and have a magical melt-in-your-mouth texture, perfect for holiday baking.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Additional powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour and cocoa powder, mixing until combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped nuts if using.
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until set.
  8. Allow to cool slightly, then roll in powdered sugar while still warm.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
