A rich, decadent cake featuring layers of chocolate, pecans, and a creamy frosting, perfect for special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 4 ounces German chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract and melted chocolate.
  6. Alternately add flour mixture and buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour.
  7. Fold in pecans and coconut.
  8. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 60-70 minutes.
  9. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Frost with your favorite chocolate ganache if desired.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with almond flour. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
