Description
A soft and spicy gingerbread sheet cake decorated like gingerbread men, perfect for holiday celebrations.

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup molasses
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup hot water
- For frosting: 4 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 4-6 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in molasses and eggs.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with hot water, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow cake to cool completely before frosting.
- For frosting: Beat powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Spread over cooled cake and decorate as desired.
Notes
Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Add more spices for a stronger flavor.
