- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup fruit jam (such as raspberry or strawberry)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and salt, then gradually mix in the flour until a dough forms.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to make an indentation in the center of each ball.
- Fill each indentation with about 1/2 teaspoon of jam.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For heart-shaped cookies, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter or mold the dough into hearts before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
