Description

A simple and romantic heart-shaped cake decorated for Valentine’s Day, perfect for sharing with loved ones.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Red food coloring (as needed for heart shape)
  • Frosting: 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease a heart-shaped cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, and mix until smooth.
  6. Add red food coloring to achieve a pink or red hue for the heart shape.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting.
  9. For frosting: Beat powdered sugar, butter, and milk until smooth, then spread over the cooled cake.

Notes

Ensure the cake is fully cooled before decorating to prevent the frosting from melting. For extra romance, add heart-shaped sprinkles.
