Description

A flavorful skillet dish combining tender steak with rice in a sweet and savory honey garlic butter sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds flank steak, sliced against the grain
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish
  • Optional: sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the steak slices with salt and pepper, then add to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Return the steak to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  6. Serve the steak and sauce over cooked rice. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

For best results, use fresh garlic and high-quality honey. This dish pairs well with steamed vegetables.
