Description
A quick and flavorful Korean-inspired dish featuring ground beef stir-fried with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and brown sugar, served over rice.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- For serving: Cooked rice, sliced cucumbers
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
- Pour the sauce over the browned beef and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
- Remove from heat and stir in the green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve the beef mixture over cooked rice, garnished with sliced cucumbers if desired.
Notes
For a spicier version, increase the amount of red pepper flakes. This recipe pairs well with steamed vegetables.
