- 4 medium potatoes, sliced
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat; drain excess fat.
- Layer sliced potatoes in the bottom of a greased casserole dish.
- Add the browned ground beef on top of the potatoes.
- Spread the chopped onion over the beef layer.
- Pour the cream of mushroom soup evenly over the layers.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Cover and bake for 45 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
- Remove cover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Notes
For a healthier twist, use lean ground beef and low-sodium soup. This casserole can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking.
