- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs

- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- For the cookie dough layer: 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup flour (heat-treated), 1/4 cup milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in cocoa powder, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda; gradually add to the wet mixture.
- Spread half the batter into the prepared pan.
- For the cookie dough layer: Mix brown sugar and butter until creamy; add flour, milk, and vanilla, then spread over the batter.
- Top with remaining batter and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
