Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough, roll them, and place on the baking sheet. Use your thumb to make an indentation in the center of each ball.
- Fill each indentation with about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
