Description

Soft and chewy red velvet cookies with a signature crinkle top, dusted in powdered sugar for a festive treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in red food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Chill the dough for at least 2 hours.
  5. Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then roll each ball in powdered sugar to coat.
  7. Place on prepared baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until cookies have crinkled tops.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, ensure the dough is thoroughly chilled to achieve the perfect crinkle effect. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
