  • Author: Chef Lalybeth
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 12-16 pieces 1x

Description

This easy holiday treat combines dark and white chocolate with crushed peppermint candies and a sprinkle of sea salt for a perfect balance of minty sweetness and savory crunch. It’s a festive dessert that’s simple to make and always impresses.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 8 ounces white chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
  • Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, allowing overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth (about 1-2 minutes total).
  3. Pour the melted dark chocolate into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly with a spatula.
  4. Place in the refrigerator to set for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth (about 1-2 minutes total).
  6. Pour the melted white chocolate over the set dark chocolate layer and spread evenly.
  7. Immediately sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies evenly over the white chocolate, followed by a generous sprinkling of coarse sea salt.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or until fully set.
  9. Remove from the baking dish using the parchment overhang, then break into pieces.
  10. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality chocolate. If the chocolate separates while melting, add a teaspoon of vegetable oil to help it recombine. Crush the peppermint candies in a ziplock bag with a rolling pin for easy cleanup.
