Description

A hearty Italian-style meatball recipe with a simple spaghetti sauce, perfect for family dinners, featuring savory meatballs simmered in a rich tomato sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cans (28 oz each) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
  6. Add crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, and dried basil. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Bring the sauce to a simmer and return the meatballs to the skillet.
  8. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through and sauce has thickened.
  9. Serve over cooked spaghetti.

Notes

For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the sauce. Make sure to use fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
