Description

These red velvet sugar cookies are soft, chewy, and packed with rich flavor from cocoa and vanilla, perfect for holidays or any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in egg, vanilla extract, red food coloring, and vinegar until well combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Scoop dough into balls and place on prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are set. Let cool on sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
