  • Author: Chef Lalybeth
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Description

Classic Swedish meatballs are made with a mixture of ground beef and pork, seasoned with onion and spices, then served with a creamy gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, milk, egg, onion, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  2. Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  3. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes.
  4. Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually add beef broth and heavy cream, stirring until the sauce thickens.
  6. Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer for 10 minutes.

Notes

Serve with lingonberry sauce and mashed potatoes for an authentic Swedish meal.
