Description
Classic Salisbury steak made with ground beef patties simmered in a savory onion gravy.
Ingredients

- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 2 teaspoons mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons flour
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, bread crumbs, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 6 oval patties.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion slices and cook until softened.
- Push onions to the side and add the patties. Brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth and flour until smooth. Pour over the patties and onions.
- Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes until patties are cooked through and gravy is thickened.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use beef stock instead of broth. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
