Description

This ultimate patty melt features a juicy beef patty topped with caramelized onions and a tangy secret sauce, all sandwiched between slices of toasted rye bread.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • Secret Sauce Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 slices rye bread
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into 2 patties.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side.
  3. In another pan, melt butter and cook onions until caramelized.
  4. Prepare the secret sauce by mixing mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder.
  5. Assemble the patty melt: Place a patty on a slice of rye bread, top with onions, secret sauce, and Swiss cheese, then add another slice of bread.
  6. Grill the sandwich in the skillet until bread is toasted and cheese is melted.

Notes

For a spicier version, add hot sauce to the secret sauce mixture.
