Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each mold about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  8. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze and let them set on the wire rack.

Notes

For a festive touch, add red food coloring to the batter or sprinkle with heart-shaped sprinkles.
