Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- Coarse salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and knead until a dough forms.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 425Β°F (220Β°C).
- Roll dough into bite-sized pieces and boil in a mixture of baking soda and water for 30 seconds.
- Place on a baking sheet, top with shredded cheese, and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.
- Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse salt before serving.
Notes
Serve warm for the best gooey texture. Pair with mustard for dipping.
