- 1/2 cup white vinegar

Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the cooking oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sautΓ© until fragrant.
- Add the chicken pieces and brown them on all sides.
- Pour in the soy sauce, vinegar, water, peppercorns, and bay leaves.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 30-40 minutes until chicken is tender.

Notes
For a richer flavor, marinate the chicken in soy sauce and garlic for at least 1 hour before cooking. Adjust vinegar to taste for tanginess.
