Description
A warm, melted wheel of brie is topped with a tangy-sweet honey balsamic cranberry sauce. Serve with crackers or crusty bread for an easy, elegant holiday appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- For the cranberry sauce:
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- For the baked brie:
- 1 (8-ounce) round Brie cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary, optional
- Assorted crackers or sliced baguette, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine cranberries, honey, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, orange zest, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook until cranberries begin to pop and sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Place the brie in a small cast-iron skillet or baking dish. Score the top of the brie lightly with a knife.
- Spoon the warm cranberry sauce over the top of the brie.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the brie is soft and gooey.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle with rosemary if using, and serve immediately with crackers or baguette slices.
Notes
For best results, use a ripe but not overly runny brie. The cranberry sauce can be made up to 3 days ahead and kept in the refrigerator. Reheat before pouring over the brie. If you prefer a smoother sauce, pulse it slightly with an immersion blender.
