Description
Warm, tender pears are stuffed with a sweet-tart cranberry and walnut mixture, drizzled with honey, and topped with creamy blue cheese for an elegant dessert or appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 firm Bosc pears, halved and cored
- 1 cup fresh cranberries
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/4 cup honey, plus extra for drizzling
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
- Optional: fresh thyme sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish large enough to hold the pear halves in a single layer.
- In a small bowl, combine the cranberries, walnuts, honey, melted butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir until well mixed.
- Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in the prepared baking dish. Spoon the cranberry-walnut mixture into the cavities of each pear half, dividing evenly.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the pears are tender when pierced with a fork and the filling is bubbly.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle the crumbled blue cheese over the top of each pear. Return to the oven for 2–3 minutes, just until the cheese begins to soften.
- Drizzle with additional honey and garnish with fresh thyme if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, omit the blue cheese or substitute with a vegan blue cheese alternative. Pears can be made ahead and reheated gently.
