Baked Pears with Cranberries, Honey, Walnuts & Blue Cheese

  • Author: Chef Lalybeth
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

Warm, tender pears are stuffed with a sweet-tart cranberry and walnut mixture, drizzled with honey, and topped with creamy blue cheese for an elegant dessert or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 firm Bosc pears, halved and cored
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup honey, plus extra for drizzling
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • Optional: fresh thyme sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish large enough to hold the pear halves in a single layer.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the cranberries, walnuts, honey, melted butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in the prepared baking dish. Spoon the cranberry-walnut mixture into the cavities of each pear half, dividing evenly.
  4. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the pears are tender when pierced with a fork and the filling is bubbly.
  5. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle the crumbled blue cheese over the top of each pear. Return to the oven for 2–3 minutes, just until the cheese begins to soften.
  6. Drizzle with additional honey and garnish with fresh thyme if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, omit the blue cheese or substitute with a vegan blue cheese alternative. Pears can be made ahead and reheated gently.
