  • Total Time: 1 hour 40 minutes
  • Yield: 12 knots 1x

Description

These cinnamon knots are twisted pastries infused with warm cinnamon flavors and topped with a rich coffee icing, making them a perfect sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • For the coffee icing: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons strong brewed coffee, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, cinnamon, and salt to the butter mixture, then stir in the yeast mixture.
  4. Gradually add flour and knead the dough until smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and tie into a knot.
  7. Place the knots on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. While the knots cool, prepare the icing by whisking together powdered sugar, coffee, and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Drizzle the icing over the cooled knots and serve.

Notes

These knots are best enjoyed fresh and can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
