- For the coffee icing: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons strong brewed coffee, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg, cinnamon, and salt to the butter mixture, then stir in the yeast mixture.
- Gradually add flour and knead the dough until smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and tie into a knot.
- Place the knots on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the knots cool, prepare the icing by whisking together powdered sugar, coffee, and vanilla until smooth.
- Drizzle the icing over the cooled knots and serve.
