Ingredients

- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups cinnamon chips
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and sweetened condensed milk over medium heat.
- Stir constantly until the mixture reaches a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and stir in cinnamon chips, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, cream of tartar, and salt until smooth.
- Fold in chopped walnuts if using.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×9 inch pan and let it cool for 2 hours or until firm.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use dark cinnamon chips. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
