Description

A delightful and vibrant candy made with layers of different flavored jello, perfect for parties and holidays.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 ounces flavored gelatin (Jello) in various colors, divided

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.
  2. Continue cooking without stirring until the mixture reaches 260Β°F (hard-ball stage) on a candy thermometer.
  3. While the syrup is cooking, beat egg whites and salt until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gradually pour the hot syrup into the beaten egg whites, beating constantly.
  5. Add vanilla extract and beat until the mixture holds its shape and becomes thick.
  6. Divide the mixture into separate bowls and stir in different colored gelatin into each bowl.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the colored mixtures onto waxed paper to form candies, alternating colors for a swirled effect.
  8. Allow the candies to set at room temperature for several hours or until firm.

Notes

For best results, use a stand mixer and work quickly with the hot syrup. Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
