A creamy and comforting Southern-style casserole featuring green beans, mushroom soup, and crispy fried onions that makes a perfect holiday side dish.


Ingredients

  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) green beans, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/3 cups French fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a 1.5-quart casserole dish.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and stir in 2/3 cup of the French fried onions.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 2/3 cup French fried onions on top.
  7. Bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown.

Notes

This casserole can be made ahead and refrigerated; just add the final layer of onions before baking. Pairs well with turkey or ham.
