  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • For frosting: 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in mashed bananas and vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add the flour mixture and buttermilk to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Allow cake to cool completely before frosting.
  8. For frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter together until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla. Spread over cooled cake.
