- 1 (12-15 pound) whole turkey, thawed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 onion, quartered
- 1 lemon, quartered
- Fresh herbs (like rosemary, thyme, and sage)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325Β°F (165Β°C).
- Remove the giblets and neck from the turkey cavity and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Rub the oil mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin if possible.
- Stuff the turkey cavity with the quartered onion, lemon, and fresh herbs.
- Place the turkey breast-side up in a roasting pan. Tie the legs together with kitchen twine.
- Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for about 13-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165Β°F (74Β°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Notes
Ensure the turkey is completely thawed before cooking. For a crispier skin, baste the turkey every 30-45 minutes.
