Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, melt the butter and stir in the sugar until well combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped pecans.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Allow the cake to cool before cutting and serving.
Notes
For a gooier texture, do not overbake; the center should still be slightly soft when removed from the oven. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
