  • Author: Chef Lalybeth
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 1x

Description

A creamy and savory dip featuring caramelized onions, perfect for appetizers or parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Fresh chives, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions, salt, and pepper, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let the onions cool completely.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled onions with sour cream, mayonnaise, cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
  5. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Garnish with chopped fresh chives before serving.

Notes

For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. Serve with potato chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
