- 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Fresh chives, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions, salt, and pepper, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the onions cool completely.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled onions with sour cream, mayonnaise, cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
- Transfer the dip to a serving bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld.
- Garnish with chopped fresh chives before serving.
Notes
For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. Serve with potato chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
