  • Total Time: 1 hour 25 minutes
  • Yield: 24 cookies 1x

Description

A classic family recipe for soft and tangy sour cream sugar cookies passed down through generations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream, and mix until just combined.
  5. Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto the prepared sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, ensure the dough is well-chilled before baking to prevent spreading. Store in an airtight container.
