Description
A delightful appetizer combining creamy goat cheese with a crunchy pistachio crust, drizzled with a sweet and spicy blueberry hot honey.

- 8 oz goat cheese, softened
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup finely chopped pistachios
- 1/2 cup blueberry jam
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup crushed pistachios for coating
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine goat cheese and cream cheese until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Form the cheese mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Place flour, beaten egg, and panko mixed with crushed pistachios in separate bowls.
- Roll each cheese ball in flour, then dip in egg, then coat with the pistachio-panko mixture.
- Place on a baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry the cheese balls until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- In a small saucepan, combine blueberry jam, honey, and red pepper flakes. Heat over medium until warm and combined.
- Drizzle the blueberry hot honey over the cheese balls and serve immediately.
Notes
You can also bake the cheese balls at 400°F for 10-12 minutes instead of frying. The hot honey can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
